This film examines the spirituality and motivation behind the veneration of Mother Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, through a novena dedicated to Our Lady of Vailankanni. The Novena was held in Malvern, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia.
In September 2009, the Combined Societies of Mary organised a novena, dedicated to Our Lady of Vailankanni, also known as Our Lady of Good Health. A magnificent statue of our Lady of Vailankanni was brought from India to St. Mary's, East Malvern, Victoria to celebrate these nine nights of devotion, culminating in a procession on the 8th September, which is also celebrated by Catholics as the birthday of Mother Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ.
The Ta Pinu Marian Centre is about 50 kms outside Melbourne, Australia, where immigrant Catholic communities have built shrines dedicated to various patron saints as well as Mary, the mother of Jesus.
This film was shot over 4 nights during the Novena. Subsequently, the main persons involved with the Novena were interviewed and a 52 min documentary film was made called Nine Nights of Devotion
